Another Weekend, Another Project

Published Date: August 17th, 2008
Category: Classes & Events, Techniques |

So the weekend flew by again, and sorry to say no stamping, but I have been busy with some other things - and I do have a photo of a project to share…so if you don’t want to bother with the blah, blah, blah…scoot on down to the bottom of the post.

It’s no secret that we’ve been hammered with rain and thunderstorms this summer, which means not a whole lot of outdoor time this year…in fact I’d venture to say that between the terrible rain and other obligations, we’ve been in the pool only 6 or 7 times. This weekend turned out to be a beauty but that also meant we had to take advantage of the weather to get some over due outdoor projects taken care of. On top of all the every day stuff…my MIL will soon be turning 80! woohoo! She’s a great lady, of great faith, and in awesome shape. So, to celebrate this milestone birthday all the kids and kids-in-laws decided to throw her a surprise bash…naturally I’m in charge of the invites. I did cheat, as there were so many to send out and time was of the essence - I used *gasp* Martha Stewart nearly ready made invitations - I know, I know, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Well, one thing led to another, and pretty soon we had an entire theme going…the colors are pale green, yellow and white, so naturally we’re building on that. So, I was on the Martha site checking things out and decided I should make some crepe paper flowers…well, I think they turned out OK, I still have to make 3 more as there will be 2 buffet tables but I need some rest first.

The rest of the weekend I was busy entering orders from the new catalog - between the fabulous new items and so many people taking advantage of tax free weekend, I was a busy demonstrator. Gotta love that! There are so many exciting things ahead with Stampin’ Up! I hope you’ll stay tuned, and if you have any questions along the way, feel free to contact me!

And before I go, I just wanted to remind you of the great demonstrator sign on promotion going on right now…it’s never been easier or at such a great price, review the info here…signing up is just a few clicks away…in fact you can do it over at my Stampin’ Up! site here and use the code stampwithrobin.

So are you ready for my crepe paper flowers? What do you think?

I know, I’m so not Martha, but I think they’ll make a statement! See you tomorrow!

So, now that the 2008 Stampin’ Up! Convention is over…and all of the Artisan Award Winners projects have been “unveiled” I can share my submissions. I think I get the most pleasure out of creating cards and 3-d items, however I think I get the most satisfaction from creating scrapbook pages…does that make sense? So here we go:

Thanks for peeking in and thanks to all of you who have contacted me! It has been such fun hearing from you and getting to know some of you!

Simply Sent Flower Power

Published Date: August 13th, 2008
Category: Cards, General |

Stamping is a great way to pass the time, relax, create, rejuvinate - basically good therapy. There are times though when we need a card in a hurry…there are some of you who like the idea of a handmade card without all the stamping and coordinating and fuss. No matter what…we do have the same common desire to create. Stampin’ Up! has some great alternatives for those in a hurry moments, new stampers, or those that want a minimum of fuss when creating…the Simply Sent kits - maybe you’ve overlooked these, maybe you’ve seen them. I must admit that I tend to pass them by because I like the idea of my one of a kind designs and yes I LOVE THE FUSS! When the demonstrator pre-order for the new catty was introduced, I fell in love with the colors in the Flower Power Kit. Enough supplies to make 9 cards…and if you think outside of the box a bit and add a few pieces of your own card stock or even Whisper White, you can make even more. Then if you think in terms of additional ribbon or accessories you can really step up your creations. The bottom line is that these kits are a great jumping off point. Below you’ll find a picture of the kit brochure (note, these kits do not include the stamp set). And next to the brochure you’ll find a photo of three cards that I created - I wanted to see if I could come up with something different, but using only the supplies in the kit and 1 stamp set. What do you think?

and now for the individual cards and close-ups

and

and finally…

These cards were quick and simple to create. The kit instructions suggest you use the new Wow Flowers set, my cards use the Think Happy Thoughts set. What can you make with these? The possibilities are endless.

Oh, and in case you missed yesterdays post…be sure to check back once in a while…fun new things ahead for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators. AND Stampin’ Up! fans and customers are in for some great promotions coming your way - be sure to keep up…you won’t want to miss a thing!

Happy Stamping!
